Lake Beryessa Fishing Report
We fished lake Berryessa over the weekend. It was tough going. We launched at Capelle Cove and spent all day on the lake chasing Trout, Kings, Crappie, and Catfish. We had a good plan in place and worked hard all day for them. We used live minnows under a bobber in the coves with markings, then trolled for trout and kings using downriggers. We varied depth, and lures, and used all the tricks in our book, but came up emptyhanded. The lake is still muddy and it was a windy day. We spoke to other boats and bank anglers, who didn’t have much luck either. The good news is that the lake is almost full and the Capelle Cove boat launch is open for business. Napa River Fishing Report
If you catch a break in the weather, it may make sense to head over to the river and try your luck with Striper and Sturgeon. Your best bet is to use live bait, specifically, we found that a combo of grass or ghost shrimp and pile worm works best. We also hear customers are getting hookups with anchovies. The water is still too stained for lures. I feel like I’ve been saying this for weeks, but it’s going to get good soon. When it does, you need to be ready. Check your gear and head over to Sweeney’s for anything you may need. We’ve stocked up on all things fishing and are ready to supply what you need to hit this season running.
Live Bait Update
We expect to have Live Grass shrimp, Live Ghost shrimp, and Live Pile worms on Friday.
