Sweeney’s Is Open-Here’s How to Get Around the Road Closure
If you’ve driven down Lincoln Avenue recently, you may have noticed the ongoing road construction near Sweeney’s Sports. While the closure can make it look like access to the shop is blocked, we are open and you can still get here without a problem.
Instead of trying to enter through the closed section of Lincoln, turn onto Yajome Street, just before Iroquois Street, and loop around to approach the shop from the back. That route remains completely open, and customers have been able to get through—even those arriving with boats.
The construction has lasted a little longer than expected, but we’re still here and ready to help. Whether you need fishing gear, tackle, supplies, advice for your next trip, or just want to stop in and talk fishing, don’t let the road closure keep you away.

Two Rods, One Deal: Another Pond Stars Trade-In
Ty stopped by Sweeney’s Sports with two rods to trade in: a nine-foot Okuma Celilo and a seven-foot Daiwa. Both were in good usable condition, although the Daiwa had some cork damage that affected its resale value. After evaluating what each rod could realistically sell for, we offered $40 in store credit or $25 cash for the pair.
After considering the value of trading just one rod, Ty decided to include both and take the $40 store credit. It’s another example of how Pond Stars can turn fishing gear that’s no longer being used into credit toward something new—while giving those rods another chance to get back on the water.
