Napa Fishing Club Meeting August 21: Learn Striper Trolling and Drifting
Join us on Friday, August 21, for the next Napa Fishing Club meeting, featuring local fishing guide and friend of the shop Brandon Abernathy of RodDown Guide Service.
Brandon will share his approach to trolling and drifting for striped bass on the Napa and Sacramento rivers, covering how he locates fish, selects productive water, sets up his gear, presents baits and lures, and adjusts to current and changing river conditions.
The meeting runs from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. , with Brandon presenting from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Attendance is free for current Napa Fishing Club members. Not a member yet? Learn more and join the Napa Fishing Club here.
Brandon is an experienced Northern California multi-species guide who helps anglers target striped bass, salmon, sturgeon, trout, kokanee, and landlocked king salmon throughout the region. Whether you already spend time trolling the rivers or are just beginning to explore boat-based striper fishing, this will be a practical presentation filled with techniques you can use during the upcoming Napa River striper season.

Around the Shop: New Gear & Pond Stars Finds
He Brought in a Fishing Collection and a Harpoon.
Al stopped by Sweeney’s Sports with a unique collection gathered from years of fishing on both coasts. Along with rods, reels, tackle, and a compact Orvis fly-and-spin outfit, he revealed something completely unexpected: a flying gaff and a harpoon once intended for landing giant bluefin tuna. It was another reminder that you never know what will walk through the door at Pond Stars or what fishing stories may come with it.
