Fishing Report
Lake Berryessa
Lake Berryessa continues to have a good Fall bite. The Trout and Salmon bite remains steady with some anglers catching limits of fish. Reports are showing that the fish are on the move, so you may have to search around to find them. The south end of the lake continues to produce, Markley Cove out to the main lake. Start looking North in the Pope and Putah creek river channels as fish start to move. Trolling big spoons like Kastmasters, Speedy Shiners, and Needlefish, as well as a variety of spinners behind a dodger in 30'-75' are catching fish. Bass anglers are still on a good spoon bite! Chasing bait balls and spooning through them is the hot ticket right now. The Fall bass bite should continue to just get better. It's been a tough summer for the bass anglers, but that bite seems to really be turning around. Don't forget to target fish up shallow chasing bait as well. Reaction baits like LV 500's, spinner baits, underspins, and chatter baits around the remaining grass beds or flooded willows can produce a great bite. Markely Cove and Putah Creek launch ramps still remain open with single lane ramps.
Napa River
The Napa River just keeps on producing!! The striper bite is rolling on strong for the bank and boat anglers. The Fall live bait bite with mudsuckers or bullheads is producing very well. Trolling and casting in the levee breaks and sloughs with Rattle Traps, LV500s, Spro Aruku Shads, Broken backs, and swimbaits are producing throughout the river. Spooning with 3oz-4oz jigs in the main river or deep levee breaks can also produce fish.
There is a Sturgeon bite in the south end of the river, numbers are not great but there is some action for those that want to try. There is King Salmon in the system right now. Try throwing heavy spinners like Mepps Flying C's up in town or the multiple levee breaks. Remember to use barbless single hooks on all your lures if you are targeting salmon. The salmon season will officially close on Oct 31st, so we still have a few more weeks. I am looking for pics to share in our report, so if you catch a nice fish send a story and pic to team@sweeneyssports.com
Conn Dam/Lake Hennessey-The bass bite is about all that is worth talking about here. We are getting a few reports coming in of a fair bass bite up there. Finesse techniques with drop shotting or split shotting Robo Worms or crawdad-colored creature baits on offshore rocks, or rock walls have been producing. Also, try jigs, or deep cranks on the rocks. Look for the bass to start moving shallow looking for bait as the water temps continue to cool off. We have had no reports of crappie or trout in some time. The launch is still open at the time.
I was able to hit the river for a couple of hours this week. I had a super high tide on Tuesday evening and fished the slack tide. I usually avoid the slack tide when I can, but the action was good anyways. We managed to stay close to town and catch 12 stripers. We only saw two keeper-size stripers, but the little ones on light tackle are always fun. We threw River2Sea 4” swimbaits and Lucky Craft LV500s.

Hunting/Outdoor
This week in the shop we received a shipment of new lights from a company called Kodiak Lighting. A very exciting new product line for us here at the shop. This company is producing very high-lumen output lights at great prices and are rechargeable. Products including Tactical Lights, Headlamps, and small handheld lights have arrived. Looking for a new headlamp for the upcoming duck season, how about a 1300-lumen light to find your way?
Also, great Christmas gift ideas!!!
We also received a truckload of products from Crossman, BB, and Pellet guns. Just in time for the holiday season. Duck Season opens in a couple of weeks on October 22nd. We have a good selection of gear from duck calls to waders. This week we received an order of Winchester 12 ga 3" #2 shot. If you need steel shot, don't wait we only got 20 cases and I am not sure what else is coming in for the first part of the season.
