At Sweeney’s Sports, we’ve always believed fishing is about more than gear - it’s about community, shared knowledge, and bringing people together.

That’s why we’re launching the Napa Fishing Club - a welcoming learning hub where local anglers can share tips, improve their skills, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes fishing special.

But we don’t want to build it alone.

We’re looking for 2–4 founding advisory board members to help shape the direction of the club and ensure it truly reflects the needs and ideas of Napa’s fishing community.

What the Napa Fishing Club Will Be

A place to meet fellow anglers
A hub for local fishing knowledge and tips
Monthly gatherings to learn and share
Group outings, tournaments, and events
Advocacy for local fisheries and conservation

Advisory Board Purpose

The advisory board will help guide the club’s growth, programming, and community impact.

This is not a formal corporate board - it’s a group of passionate anglers who want to help build something meaningful for Napa.

Advisory Board Responsibilities

Core Expectations

Attend bi-monthly advisory check-ins (informal)
Provide input on topics, events, and club direction
Share fishing reports and insights
Help welcome and mentor new members
Support community-building effort
Help to admin the club's online community

Optional Contributions

Lead a workshop or demo
Help organize an outing or tournament
Assist with conservation or youth initiatives
Provide feedback on gear and programs

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a professional angler - just someone who:

Believes in community
Enjoys sharing knowledge
Wants to help others learn
Cares about local fisheries

We welcome:

Beginners with fresh perspective
Experienced anglers
Families and youth advocates
Conservation-minded anglers

Minnows have been producing well for Napa River stripers and Lake Berryessa trout and catfish, while Roe and Cured Ghost Shrimp continue to be a go-to option for bank fishing for sturgeon and striper.

Availability can change quickly, so if you’re planning a trip, swing by early or give us a call to make sure we’ve got exactly what you need.
