Hello friends,

Big week ahead.

Salmon season opens April 11, Berryessa has officially popped, Napa River stripers are producing, and we’re just days away from our first Napa Fishing Club meeting on April 17.

Let’s get into it.

Salmon Season Opens April 11

The wait is over—salmon season is here.

Fishing opens from Pigeon Point south, so if you're running out of Half Moon Bay, expect about a 20-mile run, while Moss Landing puts you closer to the action.

If you're heading out opening weekend, keep it simple.

Two setups I recommend:

  • Anchovy tray setup with a 4"–6" flasher

  • Hoochie setup behind a larger flasher

Both are proven setups that produce fish year after year. We’ve got weights, flashers, and hoochies ready at the shop if you need to gear up.

Berryessa Has Officially “Popped”

Good news—Lake Berryessa is producing kokanee, kings and trout, with fish holding 15–50 feet down.

Right now, we recommend:

  • Flashers with hoochies or spinners

  • Troll 1.0–1.8 mph

  • Target 15–50 feet

Catfish are also picking up, especially near coves and docks using minnows or liver. Crappie action is improving too, so there’s plenty of opportunity out there.

Napa River Stripers Are Producing

Striper fishing continues to improve in the Napa River. Live bait is your sure bet right now. We have live ghost shrimp and pile worms in stock.

What’s working:

  • Jerk baits

  • Deep-diving crankbaits

  • Troll 3–4 mph

Sturgeon are still being caught as well, with ghost shrimp, pile worms, and roe continuing to produce solid results.

First Napa Fishing Club Meeting — April 17

We’re excited to kick off our first Napa Fishing Club meeting on:

📅April 17

🕕6:00 PM – 8:30 PM

📍 At the shop

We’ll be grilling, reviewing upcoming trips, and connecting with fellow anglers.

  • Members: $10

  • Non-members: $20 (Covers food and drinks.)

We can fit about 30 people, so be sure to register if you're planning to attend.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Final Thoughts

Fishing is heating up across the board.

Salmon season is opening, Berryessa is producing, and the Napa River continues to improve. April is shaping up to be a great month on the water.

Hope to see you out there—or in the shop.

See you next week.
