This class teaches the basics of rifle safety, function, and storage. Topics covered include: -The different types of rifles and their safety features -How to handle a rifle safely -How to operate a rifle safely -How to store a rifle safely -The laws and regulations governing rifles The class also includes hands-on exercises where students learn how to safely handle and operate rifles. Specific Topics -The different types of rifle safeties, such as manual safeties, grip safeties, and trigger safeties -How to check the safety status of a rifle -How to load and unload a rifle safely -How to operate the different mechanisms of a rifle -How to store a rifle in a safe or other secure location -The laws and regulations governing the possession, transportation, and use of rifles in California Takeaways By the end of this class, students will be able to: -Identify the different types of rifles and their safety features -Safely handle a rifle -Safely operate a rifle -Safely store a rifle -Understand the laws and regulations governing rifles Prerequisites There are no prerequisites for this class. However, students may bring their own unloaded and locked rifle to be used in the class. Audience This class is designed for anyone who is interested in learning about rifle safety. It is especially appropriate for new rifle owners, but it can also be helpful for experienced rifle owners who want to brush up on their safety skills. Instructor The instructor for this class is a DOJ-certified firearms instructor with extensive experience in firearms safety and training.
