This class teaches the basics of firearms cleaning. Topics covered include: -The different types of firearms cleaning kits and supplies -How to disassemble and reassemble firearms safely -How to clean the exterior and interior of firearms -How to lubricate firearms -The class also includes hands-on exercises where students learn how to clean their own firearms. Specific Topics -The different types of firearms fouling and how to remove it -How to use different cleaning solvents and lubricants -How to clean the different parts of a firearm, such as the barrel, action, and magazine -How to properly store a clean firearm Takeaways By the end of this class, students will be able to: -Clean their own firearms safely and effectively -Understand the importance of firearm cleaning -Select the right cleaning supplies for their firearms -Clean the exterior and interior of their firearms -Lubricate their firearms Prerequisites A convenient and inexpensive cleaning kit is available for purchase, or bring your own: - Cleaning rod - Bore brush, - Properly sized jag for your caliber - Nylon or brass brush - CLP (cleaning solution) - Patches Paper towels and cleaning surfaces will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own locked and unloaded firearm. Audience This class is designed for anyone who owns a firearm. It is especially appropriate for new firearm owners, but it can also be helpful for experienced firearm owners who want to learn more about cleaning their firearms. Instructor The instructor for this class is a DOJ-certified firearms instructor with extensive experience in firearms cleaning and training.
